Our friends at the University of Brighton (also one of our DWELL project partners) would like to invite students of architecture and urbanism to join two online workshops carried out by the Global Free Unit this summer. Participants will be working with two distinct migration crises prevalent in the world right now (text from the organziers below):

Global Free Unit Classroom in Lesvos, Greece, will be designing live projects to aid refugees at all scales, visits to Lesvos and refugee camps will be carried out virtually. As well as designing we will determine procurement, funding, communication, social media and management strategies for the delivery of proposals. More info here. 22 June - 3 July 2020. Workshop lead by Robert Mull with the support of inspiring partners, Office of Displaced Designers among them: http://www.displaceddesigners.org/projects

Global Free Unit Classroom in Barranquilla, Colombia, will realise an urgent placemaking project to support Venezuelan migrants and their host communities. The result of the workshop will directly impact Venezuelan refugee communities and will be realised this summer, so the work we do is vital and urgently needed to aid the situation. More info here. 6-17 July 2020. Workshop lead by Xenia Adjoubei, link to previous schools, and Alejandro Haiek, link to his exceptional practice: https://labprofab.org/

We would love for you to join us this summer and build on the valuable knowledge and creativity at work in Global Free Unit Classrooms. There are free places for EU/UK/ Norway residents, please apply through our partner university UMA. Please apply without delay to secure a place as there is a limit.
