Lecture: Humanitarian Urbanism - Integrating Spatial Policies into Humanitarian Mandates, 1960s to present

Marianne F. Potvin is currently a Global Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow at Perry World House, the University of Pennsylvania's global policy research center, where she investigates the nexus between humanitarian action, urbanization and technology. She has held fellowships at the Harvard Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, the Harvard Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, and has taught courses on the spatial aspects of crisis, conflict and reconstruction at Harvard College and at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Prior to academia, she led humanitarian and institution building projects across Iraq, Afghanistan and Darfur. She holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Science Technology and Society Studies (STS) from Harvard University, a Master of Design Studies in Risk and Resilience from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Master of Architecture from Université de Montreal.
