In Transit field research

In March 2016, the In Transit 1 Studio travelled to Athens and the islands of Kos, Kalymnos and Leros to study the ongoing humanitarian emergency response, the EU refugee registration and reception system, and to document the spatial conditions of emergency accommodation and spontaneous self-settlements in urban public spaces. On-site observations, data collected during the study trip, and the interaction and exchange of knowledge with local authorities, UNHCR officials, international NGO representatives, and grassroot-organizations, informed the project proposals.
